TreeSmart Tree Registration
TreeSmart will source many of its eucalypt plantations by entering into contracts with individual farm foresters, operating alone or through a farm forestry cooperative, who commit to management and harvesting practices which maintain carbon sequestration post-harvest. Farm forestors will be paid an annual rental for their existing trees (averaging around $100/hectare), based on the amount of carbon being sequestered in their trees on an annual basis. They will also be paid a bonus (of about $100/hectare) for the establishment of new plantations, depending on the growth potential of the site.
