TreeSmart for Conferences
Each year in Australia, there are 20 million days spent at local, national and international conferences. This equates to about 20 million trips to and from these conferences.

Whether the trip to the conference is by car, plane or other means of transport, each one of these 20 million trips generates greenhouse gases.

TreeSmart offers a way for conference organisers to make the travel to and from their conferences carbon-neutral. For a few dollars per delegate (depending on where they have come from and how they got to and from the conference), TreeSmart will plant and maintain sufficient trees in harvested eucalypt plantations to offset the total CO2 emissions arising from travel to and from the conference.

All the conference organiser needs to do is provide a final list of delegate origins (postcodes for Australian delegates and cities for overseas delegates) and means of transport to the conference to TreeSmart, and we will do the rest. TreeSmart calculates the total emissions and the area of trees that needs to be planted to offset the emissions, and then verifies that these trees have been planted.

For a few dollars per delegate, conference organisers and delegates can have peace of mind that their conference trips are not adding to the global warming problem.
